Questions people actually ask.
Do I have to connect my bank?
No. WhichCardLah never asks for a banking login or a card number — only which card products you hold and roughly what you spend.
Is it free?
The optimizer and Wally are free to use. Anything with a real marginal cost would be an opt-in extra, never a gate on the core answer.
How current is the card data?
Every card carries the date its terms were last checked and a link to the issuer's own page. The catalogue was last verified 2026-08-23.
Which cards do you cover?
15 cards are fully modeled, meaning the engine can route your spend across their rates, caps and exclusions. A further 104 are indexed by name so a search finds them, but carry no rates until each one has been read off the issuer's own terms. We would rather say "not yet" than guess.
Can Wally see live award seats?
No. Wally can tell you whether you have enough miles for a redemption, but award availability has to be checked with the airline. Those are different questions and we keep them apart.
How do you make money?
Nothing on the site is a paid placement today. If affiliate links are ever introduced they will be disclosed plainly, and they will never influence the optimization — the ranking comes from the engine, which has no idea what anything pays.
Why does a card show a lower rate than the bank advertises?
Usually a transfer ratio. HSBC sends 30,000 points to KrisFlyer for 10,000 miles while its other partners get 25,000 for 10,000, so an advertised 4 mpd is really 3.33 mpd if you collect KrisFlyer. We show the rate you actually get, not the one on the poster.
Do you store my spending?
Only if you save a wallet, and only the card products you hold plus the rough monthly figures you entered — never transactions, card numbers or banking credentials. Questions you ask Wally are stored as a category, never as text.
Still wondering something? Set your wallet up and ask Wally directly — it already knows your cards.
